Today's Energy Insight

HAPPY 2016, EVERYONE!

Now is the perfect time to make a resolution to save energy! Either at school, work, home or anywhere, there are plenty of opportunities to make small changes and these all add up to make a big difference.

  •  Check out the latest in LED and CFL bulbs, they are more esthetically pleasing than when first introduced in the marketplace. There are so many color, size and shape options available now.
  • Turn off your lights manually rather than wait for a motion sensor to do it later.
  • Use a power strip for your monitor, speakers and printer to turn these off when done at your computer. Look for a “smart” power strip for even more energy savings.
  • Only use an automatic door if needed so the doors don’t stay open too long allowing cold air in and warm air to escape in winter (and vice versa in the summer).
  • Layer for the temperature rather than adjust your thermostat, just a 2 degree adjustment means a 2% energy savings.
  • Unplug your phone or other electronic gadgets when they are finished charging.
  • Reduce, Re-use, Re-purpose, Recycle, and Remember to be a good steward of our natural resources.
